Beautiful Ashes

My music is a reflection of my life... When I wrote "Beautiful Ashes" I was going through a major healing journey in my life. I had lost nearly everything I loved and was coming out on the other side finally. A moment where my life burned down to an ancient ruin. When my dear friend Grammy award winning producer Raymond Angry (credits: The ROOTS, Solange, Lauren Hill, Josh Stone) and I got together for this it became a major detox for me. I had just moved to Brooklyn with my child who was only a little over a year old and everyone told me I was going to fail, with all I was rebuilding.
But that night with my son at the sitter I had a chance to thank the challenges that had brought me to New York and a chance at finally making my dreams come true. I wrote this song for anyone who had ever been told they couldn't bounce back, and did it anyway.
Every time I listen to it, I am reminded it isn't where you start it's where you end up and how you keep pushing until destiny finds you. This video was shot on location in Luxor Egypt. Where I was preparing for what will be my first film role in a top secret action adventure film I am preparing to shoot in 2022. Ten years ago it was just a dream. The dreams are still in progress, the sale of this NFT will help me complete mixing, master costs, and a short film I would like to make on my project "The Ceremony"
