Gm,
In 2015 my New Year's Resolution was to play 300 shows in New York City in one year. I played at classic New York City venues like Webster Hall, Rockwood Music Hall, Pianos, Arlene's Grocery, The Bitter End, and Rockwood Music Hall. I showed up to open mics almost every night, a lot of the time doubling and even tripling up when I could. Half way through the year at The Village Underground, downtown New York City, someone yelled out from the crowd that a legendary artist once performed 385 times in one year. I used to intro myself and my goal every day to hold myself accountable. The next morning I changed my goal to 400 and played my 400th show of the year at Rockwood Music Hall in November. I ended the year at 408. I Tweeted checkins occasionally using the hashtags #300gigsnyc and #400gigsnyc
2015 was the year I proved to myself that If I know who I want to be, set a goal, and show up every day, I can make it happen. I met thousands of people and will always cherish local venues and bars I played all the time like Paddy O'Reilly's, East Village Social, Under St. Marks, The Path Cafe, The Late Late, The Nuyorican, Parkside Lounge and other venues with the Inspired Word folks, Pete's Candy store, Sidewalk Cafe, The Music Inn, Vivaldi's, and so many more.
Throughout the year, I asked strangers to take videos of me here and there so I could make some sort of recap. Towards the end, I asked BradMan to take some real footage. Then Kevin Tkach edited everything together and that's what this video is. I'll be sharing earnings from this with them.
Lots of Love,
micky
