I first wrote this song in Sept. 2020, which was a very dark time. My dad and grandma were dealing with health issues(who are still battling right now), I had a recent breakup, not getting a job I worked hard for, and overall depression from the pandemic. So it was difficult for me to create music for the first half of the year. On top of social injustice around the country, everything mentioned before drained my creative juices. Sept. 2020 is when that sparked return, and "Autumn Prologue" was the first song I wrote and recorded. Although painful times, I wanted to channel that energy and give hope for anyone going through it.
For the video, I wanted to capture the essence of a fall day in a midwest town, my home of Columbus, OH. True story, I stumbled across the location by accident. I was stopping by a local coffee shop(s/o Kafe Kerouac), and when I parked, I saw the street in front of me and the image of orange, burgundy, and yellow leaves resting comfortably on the road. Something clicked in my head. I then pull out my cellphone and walk down the street, similar to the path you see in the video. I reached out to my homie Ted Cadillac, an incredible filmmaker from Pittsburgh but now living in Columbus. It took about 35 minutes to shoot the entire video, but many weeks for me to edit. I appreciate him for allowing me to be hands-on and bringing this vision to life.
