TWLOHA MOVEMENT

The To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHA) movement is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people who struggle with mental health issues, self-harm, addiction, and suicide. Founded in 2006 by Jamie Tworkowski, TWLOHA began as a story written to support a friend struggling with addiction and depression. The story resonated deeply, inspiring an online movement that spread rapidly across social media and turned into a global initiative.

TWLOHA aims to bring awareness to mental health by sharing personal stories, promoting mental health resources, and providing access to treatment. Their slogan, "Hope is real. Help is real. Your story is important," encapsulates their focus on destigmatizing mental health struggles and encouraging open discussions. The movement raises funds to support those in need and provides educational materials to bridge the gap between the public and mental health resources.

They’ve also developed programs like the Find Help Tool, which connects people with mental health professionals in their area, and HEAVY AND LIGHT, a music and storytelling event aimed at creating a safe space for conversations about mental health.
