The concept “intelligent robots” always caught my attention. Since he was a child, he was already interested in computers and technology in general, he (tried) mechanisms, things with little motors. Building things with LEGO fascinated me and a friend had some inherited Meccanos with screws, nuts and things to put together, I saw it as the steroid version of Legos.
I also remember that I even made a kind of robot with cans and a lot of tape. Means like 1.40!
Now, having passed at least 16/17 years of those memories, technology advances so much that the robotic, the sci fi is not so far away.
This leads me to think “are robots going to feel? What is it to feel? Do they have neural connections? Electrical impulses that are transformed into variables/sensations? Can everything be translated into zeros and ones? 000101010001?” My insides tell me no. That machines cannot be the same as us, that being a being (pardon the redundancy) is much more than a sum of Technical-Physical-Chemical issues. I would think there is something more...
Honestly, it scares me a little bit at times and I think that maybe thinking that it's not the same is a way of pretending that it's not going to happen.
