Machu Picchu (Peru)

Built by the Incan civilization in the 15th century, Machu Picchu is nestled high in the Andes Mountains. Abandoned during the Spanish conquest, it remained largely unknown to the outside world until its rediscovery in 1911 by American historian Hiram Bingham. The site’s terraces, temples, and stone structures are considered a masterpiece of Incan engineering, blending harmoniously with the natural landscape.
