Pont du Gard Aqueduct

One of the most famous aqueducts in France is Pont du Gard, located near the city of Nîmes. This ancient Roman aqueduct, built in the 1st century AD, is one of the most impressive and well-preserved structures of its kind.

Pont du Gard is a three-tiered aqueduct that spans the Gardon River and was part of a water supply system that delivered water to the Roman city of Nemausus (modern-day Nîmes). The highest section of the aqueduct reaches 49 meters, making it the tallest of all known Roman aqueducts.
