Y7 (Hannah Cobb & Declan Colquitt) are a duo of post-disciplinary artists operating out of Manchester, UK, specialising in the use of artificial intelligence for audio-visual works alongside
a written practice of cultural criticism, which has been published in 032c, Flash Art and Polyester Zine. They are particularly interested in the emergence of new cultural trends and how they relate to philosophy, media theory and political theory.
In 2023 they worked alongside Shumon Basar on the final instantiation of his Lorecore series for Zora and were commissioned by him to present work at the Global Art Forum 2024 in Dubai. Last year also saw them complete their first major work, ‘Report 5923’: an hour-long sci-fi film co-written, visualised and soundtracked with generative AI tools, which was prompted by the work of Ursula K Le Guin. Finally, they regularly host reading groups and communal listening events in Manchester.
