maybe i loved the idea of you. a difficult realization carrying a number of implications. i fell in love last year. after hundreds of fights, countless hours of rumination, and a distortion in my sense of self, i wrote this song. it’s hard to love somebody when it feels as though you are constantly putting out fires. it’s hard to be with somebody when change appears to be an empty promise. it seems that sometimes tough love isn’t enough. TOUGHFUCKINGLOVE is the sonic culmination of an emotionally draining year. to you.
